FAQs

Welcome to Petpadlove.com’s FAQ page! Here, we will answer some frequently asked questions about Pet Pads to help you better understand how to use pet pee pads.

1.How to correctly guide your pet dog to use a pet pee pad?

(1) Choose a suitable location: First, choose a fixed place to place the pet pad. Typically, this location should be away from your dog’s food and water bowls, as well as his bedding. Make sure the area is accessible to your dog and easy to clean.

(2) Monitor the dog: When starting training, try to keep the dog within sight so that you can detect its urination and defecation needs in time.

(3) Guide the dog: When you see your dog showing signs of looking to urinate or defecate, such as sniffing the floor or pacing around, immediately take it to where the pet pad is.

(4) Use command words: When taking your dog to the pet pad, use a specific command word, such as “go to the toilet” or “pee”, so that the dog can gradually understand that this word is related to urination and defecation.

(5) Consistency: Be consistent throughout the training process and do not let your dog go to the toilet elsewhere in the room. If your dog makes a mistake, don’t punish him, but try to prevent it from happening again.

(6) Rewards and praise: When the dog finishes defecating on the pet pad, reward it immediately with rewards, such as treats or praises. This can help create a positive association so your dog will want to go potty on the pad.

2.What are the usage scenarios for Pet Pad?

(1) On the floor: Placing the Pet Pad on the floor is the most common practice, especially when training puppies or senior dogs indoors. Choose a fixed, easily accessible location and make sure it’s well away from your pet’s food and water bowls and bed.

(2) In the kennel: Some dog owners place the Pet Pad in the kennel, which may be more convenient for puppies or indoor dogs. This provides an alternative toilet location at night or during inclement weather.

(3) Dog Potty: If you use an indoor dog potty for your pet’s peeing and pooping needs, you can place the Pet Pad inside the potty to absorb pee and poop.

(4) In the car when going out: During travel or long-distance driving, you can use the Pet Pad in the car to provide your pet with the opportunity to go to the toilet. This is great for your pet’s comfort and convenience.

(5) In a portable dog crate: If you are traveling or camping with your dog, you can place the Pet Pad in a portable dog crate to provide a bathroom area. This is very useful in outdoor environments.

3.How often does the Pet Pad need to be replaced?

How often you need to replace the Pet Pad will vary depending on your dog’s size, age and frequency of bowel movements, but here are some general recommendations:

(1) Puppies: Puppies usually need to change the Pet Pad more frequently because they have limited control. Check the Pet Pad every two to four hours and replace the soaked parts promptly to help your puppy develop good hygiene habits.

(2) Adult dogs: Adult dogs can usually tolerate it longer, but still need to replace the Pet Pad regularly. Typically check every six to eight hours and replace as needed. The dog’s size, diet, hydration intake, and health all affect the frequency of replacement.

(3) Older dogs: Older dogs may need to go to the bathroom more frequently, so the frequency of changing the Pet Pad may increase. Check every three to six hours and replace a wet Pet Pad at any time.

(4) Multiple pets: If you have multiple pets, the replacement frequency may be higher because they are used more frequently. Check and replace the Pet Pad regularly to ensure hygiene.

Also, if Pet Pads start to smell or become unclean, they should be replaced even if they are not soaked through. Keeping the Pet Pad clean contributes to your pet’s health and comfort and reduces the potential for odor and bacterial growth.

4.Do unused Pet Pads require special storage conditions?

Pet Pad requires no special storage conditions. They will remain effective as long as you keep them in a dry, dark place indoors and avoid exposure to extremes of temperature and humidity.

5.What to do with a used Pet Pad?

Used Pet Pads should be disposed of properly. Place the Pet Pad in a sealed trash bag and place it in the trash. Do not discard used Pet Pads outdoors to avoid environmental pollution.
